Wellness Tips, Easy Family Friendly Recipes and Things I'm Loving for Healthy Skin

Since being quarantined I try to save all my outings for just the neccesseities which means I don’t go to target every single day for things I absolutely do not need. Target got me really good last week though. I went to pick up peanut butter because our dog gets a kong filled with peanut butter every night since my husband wants our dog to live like a king (this is probably also why our dog is so fat). Peanut butter was all I needed and I told myself I wasn’t even going to look at anything else. I was getting in and getting out. Then I saw an air fryer and somehow that made it on to my necessities list. It was 110% worth it though. It makes cooking vegetables healthy, easy and delicious. It also makes chicken wings that taste better than any restaurant we’ve been to (remember those)? Since restaurants are a thing of the past we’ve been cooking dinner every night which I actually love. People are always asking me for good recipe ideas so here are a few of my favorite websites/bloggers to grab some inspiration from. Lexi’s Clean Kitchen has amazing recipes that are easy to follow and you guessed it, filled with clean ingreadients. Another one of my favorites is Kale Junkie. We made her Taco Pasta last weekend and it was SO easy and husband approved (he’s a tough critic) Paleomg, Fed and Fit, and Skinny Taste are some other really great clean eating websites to follow too.

I’m currently into keeping my routine as simple as possible especially since I have nowhere to go. One of my favorite make up companies is Priia Cosmetics. It’s one of the ONLY completely acne safe make up lines out there. It was developed by an esthetician who also struggled with acne so she knows what she’s doing. They recently came out with a newer color correcting powder to hide any redness and I’m obsessed. I just mix this in with a little bit of their loose powder bronzer over my sunscreen and I’m set for the day. Another thing I’m loving for my skin are benzoyl peroxide masks. Benzoyl Peroxide is really great for acne, however using it every night can lead to thinning of the skin, excessive inflammation, and delay your skins healing process. A better option is to use it as a mask alternative 1-2 nights a week for 30 minutes to an hour and then wash it off. You’ll still get the full benefits but the side effects will be less harsh. I use Obagi’s 5% benzoyl peroxide. Most people who struggle with acne have really low levels of antixoidants in their body so I’ve also incorporated 1,000 mg of Viatmin C into my supplement routine to boost those levels. There are a lot of different supplement companies out there and some don’t contain any of the beneficial ingredients they claim to. My favorite companies are Now foods, Designs for Health, and Pure encapsulations. One of the things a lot of people forget to check for acne safe ingredients is their conditioner. Checking your conditioner is important due to the fact that it sits in your hair which touches your pillow and in turn touches your face. I recently ordered Unite 7 second detangler which is completely acne safe and contains clean ingredients. The last thing I added into my routine was a liver tincture. Your liver is one of your biggest detoxification systems so a healthy liver equals healthy skin. Tinctures are typically easier for your body to absorb than supplements. I use liver health from Herb Pharm. I pop just a couple droppers in my water per day, it does have a tiny bit of flavor to it but it’s so minimal. If you can’t handle the taste in water it can easily be put into a smoothie and the flavor will be masked completely. Okay kids, that’s all for now! Happy Monday.

XOXO,

Kaila

P.S Last week I told my husband I wanted to be a regenerative farmer (honestly he’s such a good sport for putting up with me) he suggested I start with a small garden which I planted this weekend so I’ll report back on that.

The tincture I reccomend. Also, Henry really didn’t want to be left out of this picture.
