Wow. What a week it's been. Actually more like what a year. This will be a year for the history books though, that's for sure. It'll be talked about for generations to come and it's pretty cool to know we're a part of that. One of my friends always says "everything is either god sent, or god used" and I totally believe that both of those scenarios are the case for everything happening in the world right now. I started reading White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo and 10/10 I recommend to my friends. She breaks down systemic racism in a way that really makes you think about how you think about things. She asks the tough questions, gives you scenarios and challenges you to really consider the lens you're looking through. So many people have given amazing lists of podcasts, books, Instagram accounts, websites, courses, etc to educate yourself, it's incredible. I've mainly been diving into books because I'm a total nerd and obsessed with reading. If anyone knows how I can get paid to read for a living please let me know immediately. Thanks. I'm obsessed with learning new things, which is so odd because I hated school and daydreamed through most of my classes. It's probably different when learning is a personal choice instead of a forced activity. Along with educating myself on race through reading, I've been working on diversifying my social media feeds, mainly with foodies because I'm obsessed with all the food and wellness things. Here are a couple websites I recommend checking out for new recipe ideas! Orchids + Sweet Tea is a glorious one. We made her three bean taco casserole for afternoon lunch with friends and it was delightful. She has some really great gluten free/dairy free recipes which is my jam.

Another website with some great paleo/whole 30 options is All The Healthy Things. Her sparkling strawberry limeade recipe is at the top of my list, it's a mocktail but I 100 percent intend to turn it into a cocktail with some vodka/tequila at our next gathering. Another gold mine is Fit Slow Cooker Queen. Her recipes are whole 30/paleo/keto friendly and almost all made in either the slow cooker or instant pot, talk about easy meal prep and no reason not to eat healthy! Last but not least I have a to make list a mile long from Peanut Butter and Jilly Beans. Her site is filled with so many easy recipes that are gluten/dairy free. I mentioned in one of my previous posts that I've had great success ordering meat online so I now plan to move into ordering wine online. My husband thinks I need to stop ordering anything online but I could die tomorrow so no. Here are a couple websites that are owned by black women and I plan to order from them in the future! McBride Sisters, Charles Wine Co, and Frichette Winery. I'm convinced wine is what is going to provide me with all the antioxidants I need to look young forever. Probably not an accurate assumption to have but I prefer to be ignorant and stick with this belief. Speaking of staying young, let's move on to skincare. Pholk Beauty is a skincare company that is black women owned and their H2oil is acne safe, it should be arriving in my mailbox next week so I will report back with my thoughts on that! Acne safe Skincare is SO tricky to find, you really have to comb through the ingredients. I want to take the time to highlight a few more brands that are owned by black women AND acne safe. Free and True Skincare is a clean beauty brand and their Moment Of Clarity toner is acne safe and on my list of things to try! Rosen Skincare is another clean beauty brand that I plan to try, their tropics toner and paloma serum are both acne safe. I also recommend if you switch up your skincare products, do it one at a time so that if you have a reaction you will know exactly what caused it! Happy Sunday Kids! Hopefully you find some good recipe's and new skincare from this post! XOXO, Kaila Pro Wellness Tip: Soak your beans overnight and rinse well before cooking. This removes harmful lectins and phytates making them easier to digest.
